How can I follow assisted reproduction treatment from my home?

Treatment and Monitoring

What is the coordination department?

The Coordination department is in charge of monitoring all the patients who follow a course of treatment in Clinica EUGIN. We receive patients from Spain but also, many patients come from abroad, mainly from Europe, but also from the rest of the world.

For this reason, it is necessary to have a person of contact who speaks your language.

Foreign patients follow the treatment from their home country and therefore the long distance management of their treatment requires constant support and permanent dialogue between patients and doctors, biologists, nurses, etc.

This department has been developed over the years with the aim of expediting the monitoring of patients: answering the phone calls and e-mails sent, answering questions, confirming stages of the treatment, assignation of donors to the recipients, booking samples from semen donors, translating during the visits, sending the medical tests, monitoring the pregnancy.

What languages do we speak?

The coordinators speak several languages: Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian, English, and German.

Will I always deal with the same person?

You will have a reference coordinator who will supervise your medical dossier, although you may speak to different members of the coordination team who will have access to your computer file and will be able to help you in the same way as your reference coordinator. Bear in mind that the clinic is contactable 365 days a year, including weekends or bank holidays. For this reason, it is not always possible to speak to your reference coordinator.

We understand our patients’ preference to always deal with the same person and as far as possible, this is the case. For us, it is important to receive the correct information at the correct time, especially if there are medical emergencies or important instructions to be communicated. At all times, your dossier is supervised by a doctor with the aim of attending you professionally and giving you the best possible chances of achieving a pregnancy.

What are the normal business hours and bank holidays in Barcelona?

When you call, you will not be able to communicate directly with your coordinator. You have to leave a message with the receptionist and a member of the coordination team, whenever possible your own coordinator, will contact you in order to help you, on the same day or the following day, depending on the nature of the emergency.

In order to be able to contact you more efficiently, it is necessary for you to fill in your personal details in the form in the private area with as much information as possible, for example, adding several different phone numbers (landline and mobile), with the dialling code, availability or preference of contact times, etc.

The coordinators may phone you back outside these hours if they have any urgent medical information to give you.

Weekends and bank holidays for emergencies

How many times will I have to attend Clinica Eugin?

You will attend the clinic on two occasions:

The first time, for your first appointment with the doctor, to open your case history, meet each other, advise you on the reproduction treatment appropriate in your case. We also advise you to provide a semen sample on that day if you have a male partner.

The second time, for the procedure to be carried out (if you have an AID/AIH: the day of the insemination, if you are receiving oocytes: the day of the embryo transfer; if you are having IVF with your own oocytes there will be 2 different days: for the punction and for the transfer).

They are short stays of between 1 and 4 days depending on the treatment to be carried out.

You will take the medication at home and once ready, attend the clinic. If you prefer to come to Barcelona for part or all of the monitoring, this is also possible and we will be only too happy to receive you.

Is there a waiting list to start the hormone treatment?

We do not have a waiting list. Once the examinations requested on your first visit have been carried out and checked by the doctor at our clinic, the treatment can be started. A coordinator will advise you by e-mail or telephone that your dossier is complete and how the hormone treatment can be started.
