It is a specialized culture medium for embryo transfer. It differs from other media by its high concentration of hyaluronic acid—a natural molecule in the female reproductive tract that is especially abundant during the implantation window.
EmbryoGlue® acts like a biological “glue” at the moment of embryo transfer, thanks to its formulation:
- Targeted adhesion: high–molecular-weight hyaluronic acid binds to CD44 receptors on both the embryo and the endometrium, promoting a firm initial contact.
- Protective viscosity: it recreates the texture of uterine mucus, preventing the embryo from moving and keeping it precisely positioned for implantation.
- Pre-loading: incubating the embryo in the medium before transfer ensures it absorbs hyaluronic acid, boosting its adhesive capacity.
- Implantation signaling: studies suggest it enhances the expression of genes involved in matrix remodeling and immune regulation, preparing the endometrium for anchoring.
