Check that they are certified

As with any other important decision, you should ensure that the information you receive has been verified.

At Eugin Clinic we audit our results through an independent organisation, and they are a true reflection of the pregnancies of the thousands of patients who have undergone treatment at our centre.

How are success rates calculated?

What are the success rates at Eugin?

Each kind of fertility treatment offers different chances of success. Except in the case of egg donation, the age of the patient is a determining factor, as from the age of 35, the reproductive potential of a woman’s eggs decreases rapidly.

It is important to know that EUGIN are convinced that if there is a possibility of pregnancy – however small it may be – every patient has the right to know, and to make their own decision.

In other words, our data is not just limited to cases with a better prognosis.
This decision reduces the totals of our overall statistics, but has made hundreds of mothers, who had lost hope in other centres, happy.

For a better understanding of what your chances of pregnancy might be, we recommend using our pregnancy probability calculator. After the appointment with your doctor, he or she will confirm whether these probabilities correspond to your particular case.

Artificial Insemination

Artificial insemination is the least complex treatment, and is usually performed up to the age of 40. This treatment offers optimal rates until the third or fourth attempt.

AID: Artificial insemination with donor sperm

Artificial insemination with donor sperm offers a greater chance of pregnancy than CAI because the sample comes from a selected donor who has undergone a comprehensive study.

In Vitro Fertilisation

At EUGIN, most In Vitro Fertilisation treatments (IVF) are performed using the ICSI technique, which substantially improves your fertilisation rate.

Currently, most of the treatments performed consist of a first transfer of embryos obtained after stimulation and then fertilisation in the laboratory, plus a second transfer of cryopreserved embryos.

In vitro fertilisation with own eggs

A woman’s eggs are fascinating and complex cells and, at the same time, extremely delicate and particularly sensitive to the passage of time.

A woman’s eggs start to lose their reproductive capacity in a natural and irreversible process that tends to intensify from the age of 35.

In IVF, except in very specific cases, sperm quality has less of an impact on success rates than the woman’s age.

This graph corresponds to a transfer of fresh embryos, plus a transfer of cryopreserved embryos, as this is the most frequent treatment.

How do we select sperm donors?

At Eugin Clinic we do our utmost to use the woman’s own eggs. But when it is not possible or not recommended, this is when, with the help of another woman, we can achieve the desired pregnancy.

Egg donation is a technique with a proven track record, which is becoming increasingly common. Eugin Clinic is one of the most experienced centres in Europe in this area.

In IVF, except in very specific cases, sperm quality has less of an impact on success rates than the woman’s age.

In this case, your chance of pregnancy remains constant. The reason is that your egg donor will always be under the age of 36. As stipulated by law, egg donors in Spain are aged between 18 and 35.

How do we select our donors?

Multiple pregnancies

Multiple pregnancies can be cause for joy. However, from a purely medical point of view, we cannot recommend them. It is for this reason that Spanish Law limits the transfer to a maximum of 3 embryos, a figure which Eugin only puts into practice in very particular cases.

How success rates are calculated:

This data refers to the positive result of the hormone hCG Beta, measured from day 14 of the transfer: this is the first sign of a pregnancy.

It is the first sign, and the best reflection of the treatment outcome: from that moment on, nature will take its course, as in any other pregnancy, whatever the origin may have been.
