We know that starting a fertility treatment involves many emotions… and many questions. And during summer, additional doubts may arise: What if I travel? How should I carry my medication? Can I sunbathe after the transfer? What symptoms are normal?
Here we answer some of the most common questions we receive during this time of year. Our goal is for you to experience your treatment with confidence, peace of mind, and proper support.
Can I travel with my medication?
Yes, you can. You only need to take a few precautions to protect your medication from the heat, as some drugs must be stored below 25 °C.
Recommendations:
- Always carry your medication in a thermal bag or portable cooler.
- If you are flying, take it in your hand luggage, never in checked baggage, to avoid damage to the medication.
- At your destination, store it in the refrigerator (never in the freezer).
In most cases, you can continue your daily routine during treatment, even while travelling. However, always follow the specific instructions our medical team may give you on an individual basis.
Can I sunbathe or go to the beach?
Yes. After an embryo transfer or during endometrial preparation, you may sunbathe, go for walks, swim, or carry on with normal life — always using common sense: avoid prolonged exposure to intense heat and stay well hydrated, as you normally would.
What can I expect after the transfer?
We know the so-called “two-week wait” can cause anxiety. Here is a general guide of what happens after an embryo transfer:
- Days 1–3: The embryo begins to attach to the endometrium.
- Days 4–6: Implantation progresses. You may feel period-like cramps, pinching sensations or slight bleeding (this does not always happen, and it’s fine if you don’t notice anything).
- From day 7 onward: If implantation has occurred, your body starts producing hCG (the pregnancy hormone).
Not all women experience symptoms. Some feel breast tenderness, abdominal bloating or fatigue, while others feel nothing at all. Both situations are perfectly normal.
And no, strict bed rest is not necessary. We recommend a calm but active lifestyle. Walking, working, reading, going out… all of this is compatible with this stage.
What if I need emotional support?
