Last March, something as unexpected and extraordinary as a global pandemic forced us to slow down and adapt to the exceptional circumstances of an unprecedented health crisis. Throughout this time, social networking has been, and continues to be, central to helping alleviate the health system and to recovery.
We are aware that throughout this situation, many projects and dreams, such as your desire to be a mother, have had to wait a short while for the benefit of the general interest. However, today we are excited to inform you that the Eugin clinics have been restarting treatments as of April 27th.
But, first of all, please let us thank you for your support and solidarity at this time. We know that these days have not been easy and we have done everything in our power to continue taking care of you, attending your consultations by videoconference and dealing with emergencies. And from now on, we will do it again in person. However, only if it is possible, and in order to avoid unnecessary travel, we will continue to attend consultations by video conference.
What are the next steps if I am waiting for my assisted reproduction treatment to begin or restart?
If you are waiting to begin or restart your treatment, contact our team of professionals through the usual channels. Together, you will be able to assess your case and see how to organise it. We are well aware that there are still certain restrictions on freedom of movement between countries, which we trust will be lifted little by little. In the meantime, we will keep track of current events at all times in order to adapt to the situation and keep you informed.
The go-ahead to restart business
You probably know that one of the main reasons why the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF) recommended that most of the work at assisted reproduction centres should cease was the possible collapse of our hospital and health care systems. However, this same week the SEF and ASEBIR (Association for the Study of Reproductive Biology), as well as the main European scientific associations with the support of the health authorities, have released a statement in which they consider that it is possible to restart the work of these clinics since both risks have decreased.
Safety measures
For these reasons, and in accordance with the recommendations by the authorities, we have been preparing ourselves at Eugin so that when we meet again in person, it will be done with all the necessary safeguards. That is why we have been working on a prevention protocol so that both you and your health care professionals are safe at all times.
Some of the measures we will be implementing for face-to-face consultations are the following:
- Widespread use of masks for healthcare professionals and patients.
- Social distancing of at least 1.5 metres, for which purpose screens will be fitted, or the layout of the Clinic’s spaces will be adjusted as necessary.
- Compliance with hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene guidelines, including, for example, the installation of hydroalcoholic solution dispensers.
- Reinforcing the cleaning and disinfection of facilities and materials.
- Reduction in the number of trips, for which, when possible, patients will be attended to by video conference.
- Training the staff on the preventative measures adopted as well as the measures that they themselves must follow.
- We will provide diagnostic tests to our patients throughout the entire process.
Clearly, the health of our patients and healthcare professionals is non-negotiable, so you will at all times be provided with the means, information and guidelines needed to act safely in this situation in accordance with the recommendations of the competent health authorities.
